Press Release Open Door Day (ODD) 2023

On 9 of September 2023 IFSA LC UGM, through the Human Resource Development (HRD) Commission, held an annual project called Open Door Day. This year, Open Door Day raised the theme “Get to Know Us!”. Actually, Open Door Day itself is the event to introduce IFSA World and IFSA LC UGM to the new students of the Faculty of Forestry. Open Door Day 2023 was different and kinda special because we have a fresh concept in which we create booths for each commission and they can promote themselves to the participants. This year it can be held in Dome IFFLC. There are several sessions in this event. It was opened with a welcoming remark from the Project Officer of Open Door Day, the President of IFSA LC UGM, and the Supervisor of IFSA LC UGM, Mochamat Gunawan Wibisono, S. Hut., M. Hum., M. Sc.. Then, it was continued with an introduction and welcome of the speakers.

The first speaker was Faiha Azka Azzahira, the President of IFSA LC UGM. She explained about the IFSA World. Started from the history of IFSA and IFSA’s structure. In IFSA World, the Board is known as IFSA 7. IFSA has more than 130 Local Committees or LCs that are spread around the world. IFSA LC UGM is one of the LC that is included in the Asia-Pacific Region and located in the Faculty of Forestry Universitas Gadjah Mada.

The second speaker was Muhammad Zuhair, Vice President of IFSA LC UGM. He explained about the IFSA LC UGM. He explained in IFSA LC UGM there are the Board of Directors (BoD), the Head of Commission (HoC), and the members of the commissions. The BoD or the directors consist of Faiha Azka Azzahira as president, Muhammad Zuhair as vice president, Meynard Karsten Eugenia br Sitorus as secretary, and Martin Lamano Silalahi as treasurer. Then, in IFSA LC UGM, there are four commissions: Language, Media and Communication (MedCo), Human Resource Development (HRD), and Forestry Education (FenC). The HoCs consist of Anninda Andriyani as HoC of Language, Amelia Amru Najah as HoC of Medco, Clara Citra Arundati as HoC of HRD, and Nurmalita Widyasari as HoC of FenC. Other than that, in her presentation, he also explained some projects from each commission.

Therefore, the first presentation session was over and continued with the Q&A session. Then we entered the second presentation session. The third speaker was Nurmalita Widyasari. She explained about the 10th Asia-Pacific Regional Meeting (APRM) 2023. Next, the fourth speaker was Dito Akbar. He explained about the UN Water Conference Online Side Event 2023. The fifth speaker was Monica Nasywa Rasendriya R. She explained about the ASEAN Forestry Dean Forum 2023. The sixth speaker was Nilo Wijaya. She explained about the 51st International Forestry Students’ Symposium (IFSS) in Germany. Then, the seventh speaker was Bintang Ridzky Alfathi. He explained about the GLF Investment Case Symposium 2023.

After the explanation about delegation, we have a sharing session with alumni. The eight speaker was Arifah Hidayati. At this time, she was in Australia to continue her studies. It means she joined the Open Door Day online via Zoom Meeting and presented it from there where there was quite a significant time difference. Then, she shared her experience while she was studying in the Faculty of Forestry UGM, especially her experience as a member of IFSA LC UGM.

With the end of the sharing session, the second presentation session also ended and continued with the Q&A session. There are some questions from the participants. The questions were also about IFSA World, IFSA LC UGM, and the delegation. The next session is giving rewards to the participants who are active in the Q&A session.

Before the end of the event, we had a documentation session. There was also a session to give souvenirs and certificates to the speakers. And the last session was a booth visiting session at each commission’s booth. That was the end of the event and the event ran smoothly. The Committees would like to thank all the participants who joined Open Door Day 2023. We do hope that there will be more people who want to join us as a member of IFSA LC UGM.
