IFSA LC UGM Debate Competition 2013

In order to celebrate earth day at 22 April 2013, IFSA LC UGM cooperate with English Debating Society (EDS) held an English Debate Competition on 26 – 27 April 2013 with theme “The Face of Climate Change” which very close to global warming issue. This event was held by development commission and such a new program of LC UGM this year. As stepping stone, debate will create global understanding and perspective of student in facing issues and improve their critical thinking of realizing its concrete solution. The participants were from several faculties of UGM, such as Veterinary, Animal Science, Forestry, Mathematics and Natural Science, and Geography.

First day, 26 April 2013 there was Technical Meeting and Training for all the participants aims to gave the same perspective and rule of debate using Australia parliamentary.

Second day, 27 April 2013 was held English Debate Competition followed by 7 faculties in Universitas Gadjah Mada. We were randomly choosing two teams and motions in each session. There were 3 adjudicators from EDS Novelisa Wirid, Gentur Adiutama and Fidhzaryan as the very experienced oldies in EDS. First of all, there were 3 phases, which were quarter final, then semifinal and final. For semifinal, there were team of : Mathematics and Natural Science,Veterinary, AnimalScience, Forestry and for final round there were team of : Mathematics & Natural Science and Veterinary. After a long way to go, finally the team from Veterinary became the winner after defeating team from Mathematics and Natural Science.
