Press Release I-CON 2023 “Chat GPT and AI Technology: Future Forest Issues Solutions”

On July 2nd, 2023 the Forestry Education Commission (FenC) IFSA LC UGM held an international collaboration project webinar with IFSA LC Morocco and NTUFSA called IFSA Collaboration (I-CON) 2023 with a theme “Chat GPT and AI Technology: Future Forest Issues Solutions”.

Artificial Intelligence (AI), as part of technological advances, makes it easy for the world of education and learning. One of the forms of Artificial Intelligence people commonly use is Chat GPT. As the technology behind Chat GPT continues to grow, it will become more than just a conversational chatbot, but a powerful tool that can be used to give solutions based on an objective side for forest issues. With the advancement of technology, one of the potential solutions in tackling those forest issues is by using Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology. But at this time for every forestry issue in the world, it is still rare to really use Chat GPT and AI technology to solve these issues, because there are still many who do not know the benefits they give and are still very new to use in the forestry sector. Here in I-CON 2023, can act as a platform to share their knowledge about future forest issues solutions in Chat GPT and AI technologies from individual Countries.

The flow of events was held with 8 sessions, which consisted of opening, speeches, documentation, introduction, interactive discussions, games, cultural night, and closing. The event was hosted by Fanny Elisabeth Panjaitan as Master of Ceremony and Nafitah as moderator. Started at 5 PM (UTC+7) with the opening by the MC, followed by opening remarks from the Project Officer of I-CON 2023, the President of IFSA LC UGM, the President of NTUFSA, and the President of IFSA LC Morocco. After that, each LC presents a brief introduction to each other about themselves, such as their activities and projects, started from IFSA LC UGM, and continued by NTUFSA and IFSA LC Morocco. Then, we did a documentation session before proceeding to the main session of the event. Carry on to the main session of this event which is interactive discussions about the theme that we had this time. Next, we had an exciting little game which was a draw battle to refresh our minds. After that, the participants are allowed by the MC to join the breakout rooms for a cultural night session. In breakout rooms, each PIC in charge of the cultural night flow, started by explaining the culture of each country. The event ended with a closing message by the MC.

I-CON 2023 runs successfully and interactively with the number of participants that exceed the target. We hope that with this event, all of us will produce new insight into cultural diversity and more knowledge of the use that is produced with Chat GPT and AI technology in handling problems that occur in the forestry sector. All forms of suggestions and input will be accepted as a form of evaluation for the next FenC program. Thank you for participating in I-CON 2023!
