The International Forestry Students’ Association Local Committee Universitas Gadjah Mada (IFSA LC UGM) proudly presents TALKSHOW 2025–"Beyond The Canopy: Growing Careers Across Sector" on Thursday, 29 May 2025. This event was organized by The Human Resources Development Commission of IFSA LC UGM, with the aim of providing a space for forestry students of Faculty of Forestry UGM to learn more about cross-sector career opportunities in line with their competencies and interests, through collaborative and constructive discussions, as well as an effort to improve the skills relevant and needed in the world of work.

Picture 2. The First Talkshow Session
The first session of the talkshow–“Beyond FMCG-Forestry Expertise in Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG)" featured an inspiring presentation by Muhammad Fahrudin, an alumnus of the Faculty of Forestry, UGM. Moderated by Saskia Amartya, the session offered valuable insights into pursuing a career beyond the conventional forestry sector. Currently, Fahru works as the Area Sales Manager for Skintific & Glad2Glow, fast-moving, high volume consumer goods brands in the personal care category. In this session, he introduced the audience to the landscape of the FMCG industry, illustrating how skills acquired in the faculty of forestry can be adapted to thrive in other sectors. In addition, he also talked about how to become an exceptional individual that stands out, what to prepare for a career (administration, competencies, networking & industry exposure), and brief tips on writing a resume and cover letter.

Between the first and second talk show sessions, the event was interspersed with light ice breaking led by the MC, Febiola Dini. This ice breaking session was done to provide a momentary space for participants to loosen the tense while still maintaining focus.

Picture 4. The Second Talkshow Session
The second session of the talkshow–“Assurance-Maintaining Quality and Compliance in the Forestry Industry" featured an inspiring presentation by Enjang Asri, who is also an alumnus of the Faculty of Forestry, UGM. Enjang currently works in the certification field at PT. Qualitas Sertifikasi Indonesia (QSI). QSI is a sustainable certification agency run by young professionals, which provides services related to certification issues. During the second talkshow session, she introduced the concept of a certification body and explained the work of an auditor, as well as the principles and competencies required to become one. She also offered advice on pursuing a career in certification.

The Discuss session, or Dynamic Interactive Session for Collaborative Understanding and Sharing, was intended for participants to discuss and ask questions directly to the two speakers regarding the material that had been presented. During this session, the participants were very enthusiastic, active, and critical in asking their questions. They not only asked questions about the material that had been presented, but they also showed interest and shared new insights they had gained from the talkshow. As a form of appreciation, the committee and the two speakers gave attractive door prizes to the most active participants. Interestingly, the gifts given by the speakers, especially Fahru, were original products from the company where he works.

The handover was done symbolically by the Project Officer at the end of the session with great honor and warmth. Hopefully, this appreciation can strengthen the relationship and open up opportunities for future cooperation. At the end of the event, all participants, speakers, and organizing committee gathered for a joint documentation session. In addition to marking the end of the event, this documentation is expected to strengthen relationships between participants and open space for ongoing communication.
